

Dorothy Black Haldane of The Woodlands, Texas, passed away on Sunday, January 2, 2011 at the age of 93. She was a beloved Daughter, Wife, Mother and Grandmother. She was born on May 9, 1917 in the Bronx, New York, the daughter of John and Isabella Black. After graduating from James Monroe High School she went to work at the New York Stock Exchange , where she met her future husband. She later worked for the Texaco Company in New York. In 1941, she married James Edgar Haldane (deceased) of Cliffside Park, New Jersey. They had two daughters, Barbara Lynn Johnson and Patricia Ellen Bosley, both of The Woodlands, Texas. Dorothy and Jim resided in Paramus, New Jersey prior to moving to Delray Beach, Florida for their retirement years. Dorothy was preceded in death by her parents, husband and her sister, Marion Hetherington and brother, John H. Black.
Dorothy is survived by her two daughters, Barbara and Patricia and their husbands, William Johnson and Richard Bosley and two grandchildren, Jennifer Bosley Bardenhagen and her husband, Peter Bardenhagen and Christopher Richard Bosley and his fiancé, Christina Cardaro.
Dorothy and her husband were founding members of St. Matthews Episcopal Church in Paramus, NJ. Dorothy worked tirelessly at local elections, PTA, was a Brownie Leader and did market research for many years. She was a member of the Church choir, and held elective offices of the Church Women’s group. She enjoyed bridge, golf and social outings with her friends.
Services are set for 3:30 P.M., Tuesday, January 4, 2011 at Trinity Episcopal Church, 3901 S. Panther Creek, The Woodlands, Texas 77381. Burial will be in Flushing Cemetery on Long Island, New York.
The family wishes to express their heartfelt thanks to the management and excellent caregivers at Autumn Grove Cottage for their compassion and caring assistance. Thanks are also extended to The Woodlands Memorial Hermann Hospital and Memorial Hermann Hospice.
