Dorothy attended school in New Orleans, Louisiana, and moved to Houston, Texas in 1971. She was a proud member of Daughters of American Revolution (DAR) (Patriots Andrew Mcllwaine, Matthew Sparks, Isom Pulley). Dorothy graduated in the class of 1949 from Eleanor McMain High School in New Orleans. She still shared friendship and monthly lunches with her high school friends. She received honors, including DAR Founders Medal for support of DAR Project Patriot and interaction with members of the U.S. Military.
Dorothy is preceded in death by her parents; oldest sister, Betty (Elizabeth Inez) Matthews; sister, Gladys Ruth Waltman; and brother, John Milton Busby, Jr.
She is survived by her only child, John Milton and wife Harriet Wainwright; three grandchildren, John Michael and wife Amanda Wainwright, Brad David and wife Lauren Wainwright, Sean Paul and wife Shannon Wainwright; 7 great grandchildren and one on the way; brother, William Charles Busby of Wilmington, NC; and very special military friends, Kristen, Olga, Mike, Paul, Trent, David, Doug, Jeff and others.
Family requests that remembrances be directed to National Society Daughters of American Revolution, Washington, DC or Warrior & Family Support Center, c/o U.S. Army, Ft. Sam Houston, San Antonio, TX or any charitable organization for wounded warriors of your choice.
A memorial service will be held at 2:00 p.m. on Wednesday, July 25, 2018 at Forest Park The Woodlands Funeral Home, 18000 I-45 South, The Woodlands, Texas 77384. There will be a reception following the service in Forest Park’s event room.
