Some of his happiest times were his high school years at Brazosport High, where he graduated in 1951. After a stint in the Marine Corp (missing the Korean conflict by 6 days) he enrolled in Stephen F. Austin State University where he was a cheerleader, and met and married Gloria Stroud, a union that produced two children, Stephen and Jennifer.
After a career with GTE Yellow Pages – and the passing of Gloria, he married Anita Hansen, which produced his third child Dustin Edgar.
His retirement was much enjoyed playing golf and fishing, and perfecting his hobby of making sling shots out of tree branches.
He was diagnosed with cancer and given 18 months to live – giving it a valiant fight for four years before succumbing with his wife of 29 years Anita and his three children by his side.
He is preceded in death by his parents Eddie Dorsett and Artie Porter, two sisters, Peggy Joyce Dorsett and Wanda Roye, and his first wife, Gloria. He is survived by wife Anita; son Dustin; son and daughter-in-law Stephen and Patti; grandchildren Wesley, Brooks, and Hunter; daughter and son-in-law Jennifer and Gary Galloway; grandchildren Lauren and Clancy; two brothers Jerry and Peyton; sisters Imogene MacKovy, Pat Hudgeons, Billie Weems and Della Miller; and stepmother Mary Joe Dorsett.
Special thanks to Dr. Hugh Poindexter and staff, Dr. Kelly Aguillar, Dr. Pierre Khoury and everyone at the Houston Cancer Clinic, and our friend Dr. Syad Raza.
