Born on March 27, 1938 in Port Arthur, Texas, he was the beloved son of Norman and Vera Frelow. Edward attended Abraham Lincoln High School and was a state tennis champion. He and his identical twin, Edgar “James” Frelow, played on the 1956 PVIL championship basketball team before going on to Grambling University to play sports under the legendary leadership of Coach Fred Hobdy and Coach Eddie Robinson.
A man of intellect, culture and conviction, Edward lived a life that stretched far beyond borders. He traveled the world, lived in Saudi Arabia for several years as the Vice President of Systems and Development for Bechtel Oil, and explored Europe with a spirit of adventure and curiosity. He was exceptionally well-read, deeply thoughtful and always ready to share a story, a lesson or a piece of history with anyone willing to listen.
His life’s journey took him from Texas to New York and then to California where he lived in Los Angeles and later Walnut Creek. Ultimately, he settled in Houston and then the Woodlands, Texas. He retired from Minute Maid (owned by Coca Cola) in 2000 and enjoyed traveling, golfing, and unique cultural culinary outings.
He was preceded in death by his parents, Norman and Vera Frelow; his identical twin, Edgar Frelow; and his brothers, Michael Frelow and Norman Frelow, Jr.
He leaves to cherish his memory, his sons, Michael Frelow (Thomasa), David Frelow (Mayra) and Mark Frelow; his grandchildren, Tarik Frelow, Shalice Frelow, Michael Frelow, Jr., David Frelow, Jr., Korynn Frelow, Kyle Frelow, Cecilia Frelow, Trinity Frelow, Sasha Frelow, and Mark Frelow, Jr.; a special niece, Tracey R.
