Edward Dale Murray, Sr., 72, of Oak Ridge North, TX, passed peacefully in his sleep on Saturday morning, April 12, 2025, with the love of his life, Gay Lynn Murray, by his side. A native Texan, born in Cleveland, TX, Edward spent most of his life in Houston, TX, where he built a life centered around family, friends, hard work, and the outdoors.
Edward was always an avid sports fan, hunter, and fisherman. He also enjoyed many days and miles on his Harley-Davidson. In retirement, Edward enjoyed traveling with Gay Lynn.
Known for his honesty and boldness, which was evident in fathering and raising his 3 children, as well as the treasured friendships made during his 45 years as a machinist and his time as part of The Woodlands Harley-Davidson Owners Group. He loved and adored his 7 grandchildren and gave each of them a nickname. He was incredibly proud of his 6 great-grandchildren and looked forward to many more.
Preceded in death were his parents, WB & Colene Murray, and his 2 brothers, James Michael Murray and Thadaile Murray, and many Aunts and Uncles.
He is survived by his wife of 53 years, Gay Lynn (Williams), an older brother, Adaile Murray (Melba Denease Watson Murray), 2 younger sisters, Terri Murray Hughes (Steve Hughes, deceased), Candy Murray Kitchen (Kenneth Kitchen). Children, Tammy Murray, Machelle Murray, and Edward Murray, Jr. (Angelica Torregroza). Grandchildren, Destiny Malone Brown (Chris Brown), Boyd Malone (Katlyn Jumper), Hailey Mitchell (Matt Sustaita, fiancé), Aaron Sanders (Savanna Smith), Rachel Sanders (Gavin Barnfield, partner), Emily Murray, Adam Murray (Elda Jaimes). Great-grandchildren, Carter Brown, Kinley Brown, Stetson Malone, baby girl Sanders (expected August 2025), Aiden Murray, Kevin Muckleroy, Kasey Muckleroy, and many loved cousins, nieces, and nephews.
Edward will always be remembered and loved by his wife, children, grandchildren, great-grandchildren, and many friends. He will be remembered for his love of family and intangible things that truly matter.
A visitation for Edward will be held Thursday, April 17, 2025 from 6:00 PM to 8:00 PM at Forest Park The Woodlands Funeral Home & Cemetery, 18000 Interstate 45 S, The Woodlands, TX 77384. A graveside service will occur Friday, April 18, 2025 from 12:00 PM to 1:00 PM, 18000 Interstate 45 S, The Woodlands, TX 77384 with a burial to follow. A reception will occur Friday, April 18, 2025 from 1:30 PM to 3:30 PM, 18000 Interstate 45 S, The Woodlands, TX 77384.
