Born on April 7, 1942, in Longmont, Colorado, to Ray and Margaret Nelson, Gerry’s life was marked by resilience, generosity, and unwavering love. She graduated from Colorado State University in 1964. In 1965, she married the love of her life, Anthony J. “Tony” Sarconi, beginning a partnership that would span six decades.
After several relocations, Gerry and her husband, Tony, settled in Thornton, Colorado, in 1975. Together, they built a thriving business with locations in both Thornton and Denver, where Gerry managed the books with precision and care. In addition to her professional responsibilities, she was the neighborhood Avon Representative, ran a busy household, and parented with unconditional devotion.
A passionate Denver Broncos fan, Gerry could often be found cheering from the notorious South Stands, her enthusiasm as fierce as her loyalty. She loved hummingbirds – those tiny, fierce flashes of color that somehow feel like joy in motion.
Her journey continued with a move in 1997 to Los Alamos, New Mexico, where she worked as a bookkeeper for a local CPA. Eventually, she and Tony returned to Denver, only to find their true home in Santa Fe in 2015. In 2023, they made one final move to Conroe, Texas.
Gerry is survived by her husband of 60 years, Anthony “Tony” J. Sarconi; daughter Rae An Cornell (Russell); granddaughters Casie McManus (Billy), Danielle Paquet (Preston), Lauren Weiland (Ross); daughter Brenda Sarconi and granddaughter Megan Fitchett; and seven great-grandchildren: Jaiden, Zoey, Damien, Zander, Ember, Fisher, and Ridge. She also leaves behind numerous nieces, nephews, and cherished friends near and far.
She was preceded in death by her beloved daughter, Debra Marie Sarconi, who passed away in early childhood (1971–1973). Her memory remained a quiet but enduring presence in her heart throughout her life.
A memorial service will be held on Wednesday, October 15, 2025, at 10:00 AM at St. Bede’s Episcopal Church in Santa Fe, New Mexico. A graveside service will follow on Friday, October 17, 2025, at 10:00 AM at Mountain View Cemetery in Longmont, Colorado.
The family extends heartfelt thanks to Woodlands Senior Care, the caregivers at Assisted Living Cottages, and Devotion Hospices for their remarkable compassion and commitment.
