

She was born in Houston, Texas, on June 3, 1934, to Joe Eldridge and Ina Zenobia Williamson. Gloria married James Brady McIver on March 4, 1955, in Houston, TX. She was a loving wife, companion, sister, mother, and Nannie who was a source of strength and love for her family until the day she passed away. Her family has always said she was the glue that held the family together. She led the family with a kind heart and a listening ear. Gloria was adored across generations. After a fulfilling administrative career at various companies, she retired from Rice University. She found enjoyment in traveling, reading, puzzles, solitaire, fine dining, a perfect glass of wine, but most of all spending time with her adoring extended family.
Gloria was preceded in death by her parents, Joe & Ina; her brothers Joe & Gene Williamson; her sisters Juanita Stoldt & Elizabeth Kelley; her husband James Brady McIver; her son-in-law, Rick Brumley; and her loving life-partner, Ben Carter Still. She is survived by her brother, Glen Williamson & his wife Louise; her son, Joe Brady and his life-partner Erica Flores; her daughter, Elizabeth Anne and her husband James Puryear; her son Calvin James and his wife Donna; along with her grandchildren, Brad and Brian Brumley, Emily and Tyler McIver, other special extended family members, Brianna & Lily Zapata, Whitney Brumley, Trey Lindquist, Kourtney Hassan & Erica Puryear, and nephews & nieces.
The family would like to extend a special note of appreciation and love to the special caregiver team Gloria had, especially Nakesha Simington who was by her side when she left this life.
Friends are cordially invited to attend a visitation with the family from 10:00 A.M. until 12:00 P.M. on Wednesday, August 7, 2019 at Forest Park The Woodlands, 18000 I-45 South, The Woodlands, TX 77384, with the funeral immediately following. Burial will follow at Forest Park Lawndale, 6900 Lawndale St., Houston, TX.
In lieu of flowers the family kindly request contributions be made to the COPD Foundation or the American Cancer Society.
