It is with the deepest sadness that our family shares the passing of our beloved son, brother. The light of an intelligent, inquisitive, sensitive spirit was extinguished from us by a senseless drug. He grew up a happy spirited child. Hank Alan Reuser, of Houston, (1984-2020), died from a drug overdose on Nov 23, 2020.
Alan attended the Woodlands High School in The Woodlands, TX, attended Texas A & M and graduated from the University of Houston with a degree in computer information systems, minor in business. Alan was blessed, despite his struggle with sobriety he effortlessly secured many impressive job offers. Currently, he was working for a Fortune 500 company, designated as lead architect of an IT project.
Hank Alan battled with a drug addiction for many years. In the end, his addiction ended his life much too soon. He successfully completed drug rehab many times, but the cravings that come from true addiction hijacks and rewires one's brain rendering them incapable of controlling impulses and making wise decisions. Ultimately, the enemy schemes and out smarts even the most creative and savvy individual. Many American lives are lost every day. Drug overdose deaths in the United States rose 4.6% in 2019 to 70,980. The stigma of embarrassment and denial must be overcome. Even when the surface is calm, the water may be turbulent just beneath. Alan's struggle has ended. He is finally at peace.
Left to keep his light shining are his loving and devoted parents, Hank and Sherry Reuser, The Woodlands; siblings, Marisa Marsico and Martina Marsico; step-brothers, Andrew and Timothy Gary Reuser, (Canada); his dear Aunts and Uncles, neices and nephews, many cousins and extended family and friends of the Post Oak Club.
Harley, his rescue dog, adored Alan, never leaving his side. Alan, recently told me "I love her mom".
May you go in peace, Alan, You are now with your Heavenly Father and your tired and relentless struggle is over. You were a wonderful soul who fought a hard battle. We know that your life wasn't defined by a drug. We will always love you!
Funeral service will be held at 3:00pm on Friday, December 4, 2020 at The Woodlands United Methodist Church, 2200 Lake Woodlands Dr., The Woodlands, TX 77380 or Live Stream is available.
A private burial will be held at Forest Park The Woodlands Funeral Home and Cemetery.
In lieu of flowers memorial donations may be made to Mosaics of Mercy. Mosaics of Mercy fills a gap that existed in our community. Resources for mental health and addiction recovery exist in our community. Families struggling exist in our community. We provide the bridge connecting the two.
