James Edward Belton, a beloved husband, devoted father, and proud grandfather, passed away peacefully on Tuesday, April 22, 2025, in The Woodlands, Texas, at the age of 58. Known to many as Jim, he was deeply loved by his family and will be profoundly missed by all who knew him.
Born on January 16, 1967, in Walnut Creek, California, Jim graduated from Pittsburg High School in Pittsburg, California. Soon after, he answered the call to serve his country with honor and distinction. Jim proudly served in the US Army from 1985-1988 in the Infantry, his last assignment being with the 2nd Battalion, 505th Parachute Infantry Regiment. He was a highly decorated soldier who received numerous awards during his term of duty including the Army Service Ribbon, the Army Lapel Button, the M16 Expert Badge, the Hand Grenade Marksman Badge, the Army Good Conduct Medal, and the Parachute Badge.
On October 14, 1989, Jim married his high school sweetheart, Danielle. Their love story began in their teenage years and grew into a beautiful, decades-long partnership. They laughed hard and loved deeply. Together, they showed everyone what true love, humor, and friendship looked like.
After his military service, Jim became a journeyman carpenter, a craft he mastered with patience, precision, and pride. If Danielle could dream it, Jim could build it — and he often did, just to see her smile. His hands were as skilled as they were loving, and his work turned their homes into a place of beauty and comfort.
Jim later enjoyed a long, successful career and recently retired from the steel industry, working for USS/ POSCO, where he was respected for his dedication, strength, and work ethic. He recently moved to Willis Texas, where he and Danielle built their dream home.
He adored his wife, cherished his children, and found immense joy in being “Papi” to his first granddaughter, Amelia, who lit up his world. He recently welcomed Madden, his newborn grandson, into the family — a moment that brought him overwhelming pride and happiness. He was a true family man, happiest when surrounded by those he loved most. Jim’s greatest source of pride was his family, barbecuing and being the greatest host.
Jim is survived by his loving wife and best friend of 40 years, Danielle. Devoted children, Kylie Belton (Son-in-law Brian Monceaux), Travis Belton (Daughter-in-law Brooke Belton) and Grandchildren, Amelia Belton, her unborn sister and Madden Monceaux. He is also survived by his parents, Gary, Linda, and Jan and siblings, Leticia Toliver, Ray Elquist, Panch Belton and Noreen Vallejo. Jim’s legacy lives on in the hearts of those who were lucky enough to love and know him. His memory will be cherished forever.
A private family burial will be held at the Houston Veterans National Cemetery in Houston. A celebration of life in California will be announced at a later date.
