

James (Jim) Michael Mastel of Spring, Texas, age 84, passed away on Thursday, July 17, 2025. Jim's life was testament to his kind spirit, unwavering dedication to his family and friends, and a deep, abiding love for the game of golf.
Jim was born in San Antonio, Texas, to Dr. Michael Mastel and Doris Plattner on February 8, 1941. Jim graduated from Liberty Union High School in Baltimore, Ohio, and went on to continue his education at The University of Dayton in Dayton, Ohio. He enjoyed a long and successful career in the Oil & Gas industry as a Technical Illustrator.
On June 8, 1962, Jim married Marcia K. Hochradel. He was the proud parent of 4, adoring grandparent of 12, and loving great grandparent of 6! He cherished moments with loved ones and was a constant source of guidance and strength.
If you knew Jim, you understood his unparalleled passion for the game of golf. He possessed an unending devotion to the game and spent countless hours on the golf course. Beyond the links, Jim was a devoted basketball fan and a lover of classic cars. He also enjoyed sharing his remarkable life stories with family and friends.
He is survived by his beloved wife Marcia Hochradel; his children Stacy Jo Heppler, Angela Dawn Martin, Michael Alan Mastel and April Lynn Swenson; grandchildren Kelsie Manning, Brent Heppler, Ryan Martin, Madisson Damstra, Makenna Smith, Joshua Mastel, Sarahbeth Mastel, Grady Mastel, Dalton Mastel, Gracie Mastel, Tyler, Swenson and Sunnie Swenson; and great grandchildren Jade, Jules, Boston, Beckham, Rhodes and Nora.
