

JAMES KEITH McEWEN, age 77, entered eternal life on October 14, 2011 in The Woodlands, TX. The son of Charles and Effie McEwen, Jim was born June 24, 1934 in West Newbury, MA. He was a lifelong resident of New England, moving to The Woodlands in 2004. Jim was a graduate of Northeastern University with a bachelor of science in Mechanical Engineering and he was a member of the honorary society, Pi Tau Sigma. After College he worked at Charles Stark Draper Laboratory, a division of MIT. He invented equipment for measuring and manufacturing spherical bearings used in the
gyroscope. This was used in the inertial navigation system that put the first man on the
moon. Jim was also employed by Northrup Corp. for 20 years.
Jim is survived by his wife of 53 years, Mary Arapoff McEwen, his daughter Mary Louise and husband Maurice Kelleher of Hermon, ME, and son John Joseph and wife Denise McEwen of San Antonio, TX. His sons James Richard and Peter Alexis and daughter Catherine Marie predeceased him.
Wake and prayers will be Tuesday, Oct. 18 from 5-7 p.m. at Forest Park The Woodlands,18000 I-45 South. Funeral Mass is Wednesday, Oct. 19 at 11 a.m. at St. Anthony of Padua Catholic Church, The Woodlands.
