Born in Houston, Texas, on July 20, 1956, to Jose S. Pérez and Agelia M.Pérez de Márquez, Jorge was a lifelong Houstonian who dedicated his life to protecting his community. His career in law enforcement began in 1976 with the Houston Airport Police, which later became a division of the Houston Police Department. Over 42 years of continuous service, Jorge protected the city’s gateways at Bush Intercontinental, Hobby, and Ellington Field.
Throughout his tenure, Jorge’s expertise was felt across many departments. He served with distinction in the K-9 Division as a Training Officer and Sergeant. Jorge loved conversing with people, and in October of 2017, he retired from HPD while stationed at Bush Airport as a Master Peace Officer, a testament to his high level of skill, education, and commitment to the badge.
Beyond his professional achievements, Jorge found peace in the outdoors and in cooking. He particularly cherished his fishing trips to Canada, creating lifelong memories on the water alongside his brother, Manuel, and his many close friends. He was a steady, guiding presence—a man of immense heart who took pride in the life he built alongside his wife of 46 years, Deborah.
Jorge’s legacy lives on through his devoted wife, Deborah M. Pérez; his mother, Agelia Pérez; and his children, Valerie Parks and her husband Jack, Shannon Wiesmiller and her husband Walt, and Nicholas J.Pérez and his wife Shelinta. He is also survived by his brother, Manuel Pérez, and wife Rhonda; his sister, Agelia Pérez Márquez, and her partner Eric Voûte and his nine grandchildren: Camillo Rojas VII, Jackson Parks IV, Kaylie Davis, Walter Wiesmiller IV, Aneesa Pérez, Jorja Parks, Lexi Wiesmiller, Aniyah Pérez, and Nia Pérez
He was preceded in death by his father, Jose S. Pérez.
A celebration of Jorge’s life and service will be held on Thursday, May 14, at 10 am. Forest Park The Woodlands Funeral Home 18000 Interstate 45S The Woodlands, TX 77384.
In honor of his 42 years of service and his love for the outdoors, the family suggests donations be made to the American Heart Association or the American Kidney Fund.
