Joyce Rae Cosby Hackett, loving wife, mother, sister, and Mamaw, was born on February 28, 1941 in Monroe, Louisiana to Aubrey and Grace Cosby and peacefully went to be with the Lord on March 7, 2026, in Cypress, Texas.
Joyce was a powerful woman of God who trusted in Jesus faithfully throughout her entire life. All who knew her will forever remember her love and service to the Lord.
She loved her family fiercely. She was known for her cooking. baking. sewing. singing, and calligraphy. She loved to teach Sunday School, had an immense passion for reading, an impressive collection of shoes, and also loved roosters. Most of all, she was known for her powerful prayers and her love for Jesus. Whenever she prayed, there was no doubt that her voice reached His throne. Her greatest prayer and the legacy that she leaves for her family is that they know and love Him with all their heart.
During her last days, surrounded by her loving family, she sang one final song which reminds us that she is now healed, whole, and with the Lord
"There is going to be a meeting in the air, In the sweet, sweet by and by:
I am going to me you, meet you there In that home beyond the sky,
Such singing you will hear, never heard by mortal ear
"Twill be glorious, I do declare!
And God's own Son will be the leading One
At the meeting in the air."
She is preceded in death by her parents, Aubrey and Grace, her brother Jerry Cosby. and her sister June Clampit.
She is survived by her husband of 66 years, Howard Eugene. her children Jeffrey and his wife Theresa, Donna and her husband Terrence, Kenneth and his wife Susana, her sister Jo Ann Hart, her sister Judy Welch and her husband William, and her five grandchildren, Meggin, Brittney and her husband Levi, Ryan and fiancee Desiree.
