While Belinda Munoz was stationed in Rota, Spain, she gave birth to a bouncing baby boy. She named him Juan Carlos - - but most friends and family called him Juanca. When he was 6 years old, his family moved from Rota to Belle Chase, Louisiana. He graduated from West Jeff High School in 1999 and continued his education at Columbia Southern University. It was at CSU where Juanca received an Associate Arts degree in occupational safety and health. He began a career at Bechtel Corp as a Deputy ES&H Manager - - a career that he excelled at and truly loved.
It was while he was in Egypt working on a major oil and gas project that he met, fell in love with and married the love of his life, Nevine Abdelalim.
How can we sum up a life like Juanca’s in a limited space. We could list all his hobbies and things he loved to do, but he was so much more than that. Juanca was strong-willed in his own way. He never met a stranger, treated everyone with dignity and respect and had a heart as big as Texas.
Juanca will be missed by all who knew him. To paraphrase e.e. cummings, we will carry Juanca in our hearts.
He is survived by his wife, Nevine Abdelalim of Spring, TX; daughters, Angela Alvarez of Gretna, LA; Belinda Alvarez of Spring, TX; Evelyn Coronado of Spring, TX; Emelyza Coronado of Hockley, TX; Mariela Alvarez of Hockley, TX; his sons, Juan Carlos Alvarez Jr. of Hockley, TX; Juan Alfonso Alvarez of Spring, TX; Miguel Alvarez of Spring, TX; Adam Alvarez of Spring, TX; his father and mother Manuel Munoz (Belinda Munoz) of Spring, TX; his brothers, Manuel A.
