Kasey Jerome Bennett was lovingly known as Bobo to his mother Brandy, Buddy to his sister Megan and Man to his father, Raymond. Kasey’s life would seem too short to many, but those who were touched by his life understood the quality of existence far exceeds the quantity of time in which one lives. Kasey was known for his facial expressions, they would usually occur if his Nana tried to show him affection and anyone who spoke ill of his beloved Houston Texans was certain to get the look!
Although Kasey’s illness presented its share of challenges, he possessed strength, perseverance, and the ability to overcome insurmountable odds. He enjoyed and was passionate about all types of sports (yes, even paintball) and often spent time discussing his love of sports with his Papa. Kasey not only participated in a sport he loved, but showed his leadership as captain of the Houston Fireball Soccer Team. He was an old soul and would often amaze his family and friends with amazing facts (like the snow in Alaska is purple!) all at the tender age of 16, he loved the history channel. Kasey was a member of Future Farmers of America, was a talented artist and loved video games. He dreamed of attending Sam Houston State University and becoming a game designer.
Kasey was granted his angel wings on September 16, 2017, but he leaves a legacy of courage. Courage which leads us to believe each day is a blessing and an opportunity to soar beyond our limitations.
He was preceded in death by his paternal grandmother, Ms. Sandra Bennett Lott.
Kasey leaves to celebrate his legacy: His parents, Brandy Bennett and Raymond Bennett, who loved him beyond measure. Sister, Megan Bennett; maternal grandparents, Al and Debra Sanders; Aunt Franny of Port Arthur, Texas, Aunt Nakita of Dallas, Texas, Aunt Freda of Dallas, Texas and cousins, K.J., Mercedes, Madison, Isaiah, and Jase. He also leaves to celebrate his legacy his two best friends, Vincent Torres and Joseph Durbin and a host of family, teachers, and friends.
Acknowledgements:
In this problematic world, it’s refreshing to find someone who still has the time to be kind, someone who has the faith to believe the more you give, the more you receive. Our family is overwhelmingly appreciative to each of you who have sustained us with your prayers, words of comfort, visits, call, food, your love and genuine friendship. Our special thank you to Dalia DeLeon (Director of the Muscular Dystrophy Association) and Coach Gabriel Brackett for your consistent efforts through our journey.
