Kyle Dicker lived his life from January 4th, 1982, until he passed away on July 13th, 2024, at the age of forty-two. Kyle was full of life, adventure, and imagination. He celebrated his friends and family; there were no strangers to Kyle. He loved being with his friends all over the country and often spent hours on the phone with them talking about dreams and philosophy, as well as comforting them whenever they needed it. He was always dreaming of the next best thing.
Kyle had a strong work ethic, and he was a carpenter by trade. His specialty was hanging electronic shades across the country. He made a reputation for himself as one of the best installers in the business. He also was a great bartender and server in many restaurants over the years.
Kyle was known for his big heart. People loved Kyle for his wild sense of humor, his cheerful outlook, his dare-devil adventures and especially for his kind heart. He always fought for the little guy, a characteristic that he chose his whole life. From an early age he stood up for, and befriended the different, and disabled. In high school Kyle was kicked out of school for fighting with someone who had disrespected and taunted a special education kid. This characteristic in Kyle also included animals. He did not like seeing anyone or anything hurt, and he did his best to try to protect them. He was a loyal and fierce protector, no matter what the consequence to himself.
Kyle loved sports, including his hapless Cubs and Bears. He played soccer from an early age. He was in little league and was always highly competitive. In high School he was a swimmer, football player, and a wrestler, who qualified for State twice. As an Adult, he played softball, and he did several climbing adventures with his Uncle Robbie.
Kyle loved to cook, loved his dogs, especially his beloved Scooby, loved “family,” and loved the comfort of settling on the couch to watch his favorite movies, especially with his sister Elena when she came to visit him.
He loved all kinds of music and went to many concerts and music parties with his friends.
Over the years, as an adult, Kyle lived in Chicago, IL; Battle Creek and Kalamazoo, MI; Memphis, TN; and several towns in Florida. When his Uncle Kraig helped him start a business Kyle moved to Texas. Kyle moved to Houston where he thought the business would do well. It was in Houston that he met his wife, Shanna. As a family, Shanna, his stepchildren; Austin and Brea, and his new in-laws, Ed and Benita, all enjoyed going to water parks, museums, beaches, they took trips to Disney World, and they enjoyed many picnics together. Kyle loved having fun. He really enjoyed playing with children, especially his cousin Jon’s children.
Kyle was preceded in death by his grandparents Cheryl and Al Kendra, and Roberta and William Dicker, and his Uncle Greg Dicker.
Kyle is survived by his mother; Kim Karum and her husband Jake of Aurora, IL; his father; William Dicker and his wife, Suellen of Prescott Valley, AZ; Kyle’s wife, Shanna Dicker, his stepson, Austin Doty, his stepdaughter, Briana Doty of Spring, TX, his two sisters; Kendra Dicker-Krase of St. Charles, IL, and Elena Leith of Durham, UK; his life-long special cousin Jon Nuss and his family of San Antonio, TX.
