Leon Duff, 85 years old, of Spring, Texas went to be with his Heavenly Father and beloved wife on December 29, 2016. Leon was born in Little Rock, Arkansas on November 29, 1931. Leon married the love of his life, Rita Jo, on July 20, 1951, which began 65 years of love and devotion to each other and set a beautiful example for all who were fortunate enough to be a part of their lives. Leon served in the U.S. Navy shortly after the beginning of the Korean War. He graduated from The University of Arkansas with a degree in business in 1956. After graduation, he worked for Shell Oil Company and retired in 1988.
Leon’s life revolved around 3 things: his faith in God, his family and his friends. Leon was an instrumental part of the foundation of The Woodlands Christian Church and met many lifetime friends there. He was honored with the title of Elder Emeritus. Leon was a perfect example of a father, father-in-law and grandfather for his family. After retirement, he became an avid golfer and had weekly games with his buddies and played in many beautiful golf courses in the U.S.
Leon was preceded in death by his parents, James and Minnie Duff and his precious wife, Rita Jo.
Leon is survived by his two sons, Jimmy and wife Teresa, Randy and wife Linda. His grandchildren are Autumn Roberts and husband Tad, Amanda Oerther and husband Mark, and James Duff. His great-grandchildren are Tye Roberts, Beaux Roberts and Max Oerther. Leon was also eagerly anticipating the birth of his first great-granddaughter, Emilia, but he missed meeting her by a couple of weeks.
The family will receive friends on Wednesday, January 4, 2017, starting at 9:30 a.m. in the chapel of Forest Park The Woodlands Funeral Home, 18000 I-45 South, The Woodlands, Texas 77384. The funeral service will begin in the chapel at 11:00 a.m. with entombment to follow in Forest Park The Woodlands Cemetery.
