He was born in Sancti Spíritus, Cuba, on November 3, 1940. Marcos studied at the University of St. Thomas. Marcos married Linda Graham Maya, the love of his life, on March 3, 1967.
He enjoyed a 40-year career in the auto sales industry, where he achieved numerous sales records and was widely respected for his work ethic and dedication.
Marcos was a proud member of the Knights of Columbus, a Catholic fraternal organization. He was also a Marriage Encounter host, a role that allowed him and Linda to strengthen their bond and share 58 beautiful years of love and marriage together. In addition, he had a passion for gardening, especially tending to his beloved rose bushes.
Marcos was a family man in every sense of the word. His smile could warm a room, and his heart was as generous as the life he lived. He greeted everyone with open arms and a gentle kiss on the cheek, making people instantly feel loved, welcomed, and seen. His kindness was never forced or fleeting. It was simply who he was.
He was the steady foundation of his family, a patriarch who led with quiet strength, unwavering faith, and a deep belief in putting family first. Marcos and his wife, Linda, shared 58 beautiful years of marriage, building a life filled with devotion, resilience, and a love that only grew deeper with time. Together, they created a home where love, generosity, and connection were at the center of every day. They raised their four children in that same spirit, nurturing bonds that remain strong today and live on through their grandchildren, nieces, nephews, and extended family.
Marcos gave of himself freely. If someone needed help, he never hesitated. His support showed up in many forms, a listening ear, a ride across town, a meal, a prayer, or simply his calm presence. He touched lives far beyond his immediate family, and those who knew him carry a piece of his warmth and generosity with them.
Marcos is survived by his wife, Linda Graham Maya; his daughter, Michelle Maya-Cogburn and son-in-law Chad Cogburn, and daughter Milissa Reid; his son, Marcos Maya and daughter-in-law Amanda Maya, and son Melvin Maya; and his grandchildren, Hailey Reid, Lauren Reid, Harrison Maya, Turner Maya, and Elliott Maya. He is also survived by his brothers, Alberto Maya and David Maya.
His absence leaves an ache that words cannot soften, but his legacy lives on in the countless moments he shared and the love he poured into everyone around him. Marcos lived a life full of purpose, heart, and quiet greatness, something many strive for but few truly achieve.

To honor Marcos and the vibrant spirit he carried throughout his life, we invite you to wear red, his favorite color. Red reflected his warmth, his passion, and the love he gave so freely. If you have a cardinal pin or piece of jewelry, we welcome you to wear it as well. The cardinal was his favorite bird, and it has always been a symbol of hope, comfort, and the presence of those we love.
