

Mary graduated from Huntsville High School. Always studious, diligent and determined, she furthered her education at Sam Houston State University where she earned a Bachelor of Arts degree in Education. After several years of teaching, the yearning for more prompted her to earn a Master Degree in Education from Prairie View A & M University in Education.
During her twenty-eight year career as an educator, Mary’s gift to differentiate and diversify instruction was exemplified. She taught at the elementary and intermediate school level students who ranged from gifted and talented to students with special needs. Mary’s areas of specialty were reading and language arts. She held many positions during her tenure; teacher, reading lab teacher, Skills Specialist and Student Teacher Cooperation Teacher.
Mary was an exacting, and caring teacher. Her expectations of her students was none less than commended. She praised their accomplishments and relished their achievements. Mary’s warm and ready smile gave one a peek into the depths of her heart; radiating the love she had for her family and others.
Mary transitioned into “Glory” on June 3, 2013. S was preceded in death by her maternal grandparents, Henry and Caroline Mitchell; paternal grandparents, Sam and Fannie Grigsby; and father, T. C. Grigsby.
She is survived by her spouse of 23 years, Ronald Williams of Houston, TX.; son, Eric Grigsby (Sonya), Houston, TX.; grandson, D’Erius Keelan Grigsby, Houston, TX.; mother, Lizzie Grigsby, Huntsville, TX.; sisters, Clara Handy (James), Houston, TX.; Ola Fenner, Houston, TX.; Maimie Pace (Huey), San Antonio, TX.; brothers, Charles Grigsby; Thomas Grigsby; Archie Grigsby (Gwen) all of Huntsville, TX., Robert Grigsby, Houston, TX.; mother-in-law, Constance Williams, Chicago, IL.; sister-in-law, Jennifer Overton ( Henry) Chicago, IL.; close family friend, Linda Kay Isaac; and a host of other relatives and friends.
