Born on October 24, 1946, in Pittsburgh, PA, Mike was the youngest son of Anna and Anthony Haley and brother to Jacqueline DeShields, who preceded him in passing. He is survived by his beloved wife, Wanda Haley; his son, Christopher Haley; daughter-in-law, Kelly Haley; and cherished grandchildren, Michael Luis, Kleio, and Eleni. He is also survived by his nephew, Rick DeShields.
Mike honorably served as a Sergeant in Vietnam from 1966 to 1968. Following his service, he pursued higher education, earning a Bachelor’s in Business Administration from Robert Morris College in Pittsburgh, PA and later obtaining a Master’s Degree from St. Francis University in Loretto, PA.
His professional career spanned approximately 25 years in the Oil & Gas industry with Exxon USA in Houston, TX, primarily in Human Resources. This inspired him to start his own HR consulting company which he ran for several years after. Later, he worked as a contractor for KBR in Iraq from 2003 to 2007 as a Human Resources Manager. This role provided him the opportunity to travel extensively alongside his wife Wanda. Together, they explored the Wonders of the World, fulfilling a lifelong dream.
Mike found joy in spending time with family, lifelong friends, skiing on the East Coast, boating, his Pittsburgh Steelers! and traveling—passions that brought him great happiness throughout his life.
A memorial service for Michael will be held Friday, February 21, 2025 from 2:00 PM to 3:00 PM at Forest Park The Woodlands Funeral Home & Cemetery, 18000 Interstate 45 S, The Woodlands, TX 77384.
In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to the Wounded Warrior Project or Camp Hope in his memory.
May his memory bring comfort to those who knew him.
