Mitchell P. Lominac, age 97, passed away peacefully on May 31, 2025, in Montgomery County, Texas. Born on Valentine’s Day, 1928, in Webster, North Carolina, Mitch was one of 7 children growing up in a time that shaped his strong work ethic, quiet humility, and unshakable values. At the age of 18, in 1946, he proudly served his country in the United States Navy. In 1948, he married the love of his life, Wilma Lominac, beginning a partnership that would span nearly seven decades.
In 1956, he moved to Texas, where he would spend the rest of his life building a legacy of hard work, family, and community. A gifted diesel mechanic, Mitch retired from not one, but 3 companies over the course of a long and dedicated career. Even in retirement, his hands were rarely idle. Neighbors and friends knew he was the man to go to for anything that needed fixing—especially small engines, lawnmowers, and tools that others had given up on. If it had a motor, Mitch could bring it back to life.
He was a man most at peace in the outdoors, whether he was tinkering in the garage, sitting in the sun with a ball cap on, or simply watching the birds and squirrels that visited his yard. Each summer, his home-grown tomatoes were the envy of the neighborhood—ripe, red, and full of the care only he could give.
He was preceded in death by his beloved wife of 67 years, Wilma Lominac, and two of his sons: Mitchell Patrick “Pat” Lominac, Jr. and Mark Lominac. He is survived by three of his children—Marie Miller (the late Dennis), Wanda O’Bannon (Gary), and Glenn Lominac (Diane)—as well as many grandchildren, great-grandchildren, and a wide circle of family, neighbors, and friends who were blessed by his steady presence and generous spirit.
A celebration of his life will be held at Forest Park The Woodlands on June 24, 2025, at 2pm.
In lieu of flowers, the family invites you to plant a tomato plant in his honor this summer—he’d have liked that.
He will be deeply missed and fondly remembered—for his quiet strength, his capable hands, and the warmth he brought to every sunlit day.
