Nancy Lou Bridges

Nancy worked in the banking industry and after 40 years, she retired as a Loan Operations Manager at Whitney Bank. She was also a member of the Women’s International Banking Society. Nancy finally retired in January of 2011.

Nancy enjoyed spending time with Garlan Bridges, who, not only being her husband of over 49 years but was her very best friend for life! Whether their time was spent traveling or going to church on Sunday mornings, they were inseparable! Nancy & Garlan were married after only 4 months from their first meeting! Nancy did also enjoy spending time with her two lovingly and devoted daughters Susanne Bridges born May 25, 1965 and Stacilyn Bridges born May 29, 1969. She also enjoyed her time spent with the many extended family members and her friends of many years.

Nancy was a true sports fan! Not only with her love of watching the Astros, Rockets and Texans on TV, but she was blessed with having the talents and honor of being the Captain of her Vilonia High School basketball team.

Nancy is preceded in death by her husband Garlan L Bridges, her father and mother Omer & Ida Bell Sowell, her brother James Sowell, her two sisters Tommy Bullmer and Judy Sembera and niece Terri O’Meara. She is survived by her two daughters Susanne and Stacilyn Bridges and by her two sisters Sybil Baker and Vickie Freeman. She also is leaving behind many wonderful and loving friends and relatives.

A memorial service will be scheduled at a later date and time at Forest Park The Woodlands Funeral Home & Cemetery.
