AVIS DE DÉCÈS
Richard Clifford Haskel Jr.
24 septembre , 1934 – 30 octobre , 2019
Richard Clifford Haskel Jr., Loving husband, father, brother, grandfather, and great-grandfather peacefully passed away Wednesday, October 30th, 2019. Dick was born September 24th, 1934 in San Antonio, Texas to Richard and Norris Haskel. He enjoyed growing up with his older sister Joyce and spending time with his family at the ranch. In his younger years, Dick enjoyed hunting, fishing, and working cattle with his father. He attended Brackenridge High School where he was involved in sports and graduated in 1952. After high school, Dick attended Baylor University where his love for the Baylor Bears began. He graduated with his finance and economics degree and always wore his Baylor class ring proudly. After graduating, Dick joined the military where he served in the Army for four years. Once he was discharged from the Army he accepted a position with Humble Oil Company and was relocated to Corpus Christi, Texas. One night, while playing in a tournament at the bowling alley in Corpus Christi, he spotted the love of his life, Georgia. They married shortly after and for fifty-eight years, Dick never once removed his wedding ring. Dick and Georgia had three daughters, Kerri, Kelli, and Kammi. Although Kammi's time on this earth was short, Dick loved her dearly and continued to send her flowers every birthday. After moving from Waco to Corpus Christi they made their final move to Conroe where they have lived in the same house for 47 years. After moving, Dick became involved in starting Cypress Creek Christian Church and years after that he started Woodlands Central Christian Church with friends that he had met along the way. He enjoyed spending as much time as possible with his daughters Kerri and Kelli, going on many road trips and being involved in all school activities for both girls. He took great pride in each of his daughters and considered raising his girls to be one of his greatest achievements. His love for softball started when he became a coach for Kelli’s little league softball team in SMGSL. From there he developed and founded The Spring Klein Hawks 18 and under tournament team. During his time as a coach for the Hawks, over 400 college scholarships were granted and numerous titles were won. In 1989, Dick became "Pop Pop" with the birth of his first grandchild and first grandson, Martin. Three years later he would have his first granddaughter Morgan and in 1996 he had his second granddaughter Maci. Dick loved spending time with his family and enjoyed all gatherings and holidays. He was a family man that enjoyed sitting around the table with his family and sharing a nice home-cooked meal. He was loved so much, and will be missed so much more.
Richard is preceded in death by his mother Norris Haskel, father Richard Haskel, sister Joyce Gill, and daughter Kammi Jay. The softball world will forever be indebted to Mr Haskel and Mrs Georgia. Many lives have been changed by you. All of Baylor Softball, alongside our pitching coach and former Texas Hawk, Britni Sneed-Newman are saddened by the loss of a Baylor Bear. Our prayers are with the family. May God grant you comfort, strength and joyful memories.

Our prayers go out to all of The Haskel Family.
Dick played such a huge roll in shaping our daughter, STACI Ramsey’s, life. He helped her become a successful athlete, and groomed her for her success at Alabama. She would not have made that wonderful success as well as that great education there without Dicks big part of helping STACI becoming the woman she is. Nancy and I thank you for sharing Dick with us even for a little while. God Bless all of you and comfort you.

Mr. Haskel was a great man who impacted many lives, including mine. There are so many families who are grateful for his guidance in the world of softball. He was compassionate yet hard nosed, caring yet competitive, excited yet a calming factor. The lessons I learned and the experiences he granted me will forever be in my heart. Thank you to the Haskel family for sharing him with us all those years. The softball world was never the same when he entered it and it will never be the same because of him. Mr. Haskel was a man of integrity and had the ability to create special relationships with everyone around him. I just know that him and Chickie Mason are laughing and arguing in Heaven right now. To my coach- I love you.

It is with great sadness that I post this. The Founder of THE TEXAS HAWKS Dick Haskel has passed away. He was one of the very best softball minds I have ever met and a man of integrity. He has had the TEXAS HAWKS since 1983 in Houston TX. He took a chance on this ole coach 7 years ago and taught me a ton about how to coach girls. He loved Softball and all of his players and he will be missed but his legacy will live on as we will strive to continue being a class organization and help young ladies achieve their dreams of playing softball in College. Till we meet again Mr Haskel!! Our deepest condolences go out to his family and we ask for all to keep them in your prayers.
