Sidney Francis Mann passed away surrounded by his family on July 20, 2023 at the age of 62 after a year-long battle with acute myeloid leukemia. He was born September 22, 1960 to Dorothy Marie Gorden and John Walter Mann Sr. He is the youngest of 7 children and was raised on a dairy farm by his mom in Mission, TX. He spent most of his childhood in Mission and moved to San Antonio his junior year, where he graduated from MacArthur High School.
He attended Brigham Young University where he earned a bachelor’s degree in finance. While attending BYU, he met and married Marilyn Blauer. They were married on August 22, 1985 in the Salt Lake Temple.
Sid was a dedicated member of The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints. He served a two year mission in the Spokane Washington Mission. He also served as a Bishop twice, High Councilor, Stake Young Men’s President, Stake Presidency member, seminary teacher and various other capacities.
Sid had various jobs over the years. He worked for AT&T, was part of a family-owned business building overhead bridge cranes called CraneMann, was a financial advisor and retired as part owner of Benefits Science, a healthcare analytics company.
Sid loved life and was always having fun. He was creative, with big ideas and the drive to carry them through. His optimism and positive energy were contagious. He enjoyed playing sports, especially tennis and softball, and he was an avid Astros fan. Family time was important to him and he loved to take the family jet skiing, play disc golf or pickleball with them and watch movies. He was always making up games on the spot using random objects to keep the family entertained and laughing. You could often find him planting flowers in his beautiful yard, or working on some big project for a wedding or youth dance or other church event. He absolutely loved serving people; if he was helping others, he was happy.
Sid is survived by his wife, Marilyn; children, David (Ocean) Mann, Brian (Stephanie) Mann, Andrea (Quinn) Pace, Allison (Kyle) Núñez and Sarah (Nathan) Beckstrand and four beautiful grandchildren; Stella and Henry Pace, Skye Mann, and Emmy Núñez. He is also survived by his sister Marie Call and brothers Chris Mann and Mike Mann.
He was preceded in death by his parents, 3 siblings (John Walter Mann Jr., Andy Mann, and Betty Jean Broadbent) and granddaughter, Mia Núñez.
