1969 – 2012
At 3:12 PM on Friday, January 13, 2012 God’s newest and brightest angel, Stacey Bechdoldt Goertz, was announced by her husband, Roger Goertz, to many of Stacey’s family and friends. Stacey’s “Wings of an Angel” were given to her while in their home in The Woodlands, TX which is where Stacey spent the last week of her life here on earth while fighting cancer that started five years earlier.
On March 12, 1969 in Alton, IL Randy Joe Bechdoldt and Victoria Gail (Cress) Bechdoldt gave birth to a “Special Gift” – a daughter named Stacey Suzette Bechdoldt. From that moment on, there would be so many others that would have their lives touched by Stacey’s “Special Gift” – a gift that included love, true warmth and friendship without question, heavenly light blue eyes with an almost blinding sparkle, and a passion for life filled with happiness – no matter the obstacles.
Throughout Stacey’s life, she seemed to excel at everything – from sports activities in grade through high school in Salem, IL; achieving the highest level of grades in all classes…all the while being the “protector and best friend” to her younger brother Brad! Always worrying about his safety – as he was known to be a little daring – Stacey joined right in and carried her “daring” ways throughout her life.
Stacey continued her passion for life while working and earning her way through college. Those efforts paid off when she received her Bachelor of Science Degree in Marketing from The University of South Florida. After receiving her degree, she used her education and expanded her knowledge while employed in Tampa, FL.
While in Tampa¸ Stacey met what she stated to be the “Love of her Life” with identical ambitions in life, who eventually became her soul mate – Roger Goertz. In 1996, Stacey and Roger gave ther vows to another, living them every day for over 15 years. Roger had an already made family. Overnight, Stacey became known as “Mom” from two children named Jamie and Kristin…and “Grandma” from what became six grandchildren and one great grandson…Zack, Cassidy, Kilian, Shannia, Kinzee, Karleigh and Kaleb.
Following her marriage, Stacey continued to excel in her profession while being the Vice President of Marketing for six franchise companies under one parent company in Waco, TX. While in this position, she was able to touch the business as well as personal lives of so many – from the U.K. to Canada and throughout the entire United States.
In August 2003, Stacey and Roger left the security and achievements in corporate life by purchasing their current business – Mr. Rooter. However, little could hold down Stacey and Roger. In January 2004, they added a second company to their business life – Rainbow International. Now, both companies service thousands of customers in a three county area around Houston. Within a few short years after their start, they purchased their existing building and firmly established their headquarters in The Woodlands, TX.
While working with her husband in their two businesses, Stacey’s desire to give more and touch the lives of others transported her into participation and active roles within their local community’s organizations, such as: The Interfaith Charities, Leadership Montgomery County, the local Chamber of Commerce and of course, the local chapter of the “In the Pink Foundation”. Through her participation and “just being Stacey”, she was appointed to the local Chamber of Commerce Board of Directors and selected as one of three Co-Chairwomen for “In the Pink” foundation 2011 – 2012. In 2011, the first of two “In the Pink” charity drives and banquet was held Marriott Waterway with record donations gathered – with all proceeds going to the purchase of the state of the art breast imaging equipment for the local Memorial-Herman Hospital.
Stacey’s passion for life and the love that just came natural to her – touched the lives of so many…too many to mention. Some of those most dearest to Stacey who will miss her smile, her touch, her love will be her husband Roger and their families, her brother Brad, Nancy his wife and their children, Stacey’s niece Chloe and nephew Archer, her parents Randy and Vicky, her grandparents “Meme and Papa” ( Betty & Jake Reno), Grandpa Cress¸ Uncle Doug and Aunt Debbie, a very close, almost “other brother” Eric and so many other family members and friends…and friends of friends who never met Stacey but have just heard about God’s newest and brightest angel.
A “CELEBRATION OF LIFE” was Stacey’s choice at the end of her life here with us. Those who knew Stacey would not be surprised at her choice. CELEBRATE LIFE she told Roger… mine as well as others!
Stacey’s CELEBRATION OF LIFE Service is being held on January 21, 2012 at 2:00 PM at the Forest Park Funeral Home at 18000 I-45 South, The Woodlands, TX 77384. Memorials and wishes for the family can be left at dignitymemorial.com. A CELEBRATION OF LIFE Service will also be held at her home town of Salem, IL at the Salem Lutheran Church on February 11, 2012 at 2:00 PM.
