After complications from surgery that developed into pneumonia, Steve passed away peacefully surrounded by his family who loved him dearly.
He was married to the love of his life, Deborah Larkin, whom he just celebrated 36 years of marriage with on November 11. Steve and Deborah shared a blended family of 5 children and one bonus daughter.
He was loved by all who met him, and he always left a lasting impression. He was “Uncle Steve” to our long-time friends, Michael and Lynn Wiegand’s, son Addison. Even the neighborhood children called him Uncle Steve.
He was always willing to lend a hand and enjoyed sitting in front of his garage (Man-Cave) with a cold beverage soaking up sunshine watching the neighborhood and giving a wave to those who passed by or stopped to chat.
He was fiercely protective of his wife and family. He enjoyed playing cornhole, when there were family gatherings, and the verbal sparring that often ensued with our equally quick-witted competitive sons. He enjoyed dinner and card nights monthly for the last 19 plus years with long-time friends. Spending warm days by the pool with some grilling, cool beverages and friends and family was also a big favorite of his. He loved the beach and sunshine; he made friends easily and was remembered for his integrity, quick wit, charm & loyalty to friendships, as well as business relationships and for being a sharp dressed man as he was teased often by his company colleagues. He saw the world in black and white; there were very few gray areas, there was right and there was wrong.
Steve was retired from First Insurance Funding Corp. after 25 plus years of service. He made many lasting relationships that have continued throughout his retirement.
Here on earth, I have lost my best friend, husband, and the love of my life. I know we will be reunited in Heaven one day. Until that day Baby, I love you more…I will miss you with every beat of my heart.
Steve was preceded in death by his Father, James Larkin, Mother, Peggy Lawrence, Stepfather, Sam Lawrence, Sisters, Sandra Larkin Pitt, Crystal Lawrence, Sharon Lawrence.
He is survived by his adoring wife of 36 years, Deborah who he lovingly referred to as “Baby Cakes”. Their life together was quite a wonderful love story.
