Travis Wayne Harris passed away on November 17th, 2020 at the age of 80. His battle with serious medical issues in recent years showed his courage in facing life challenges with a smile. He maintained a fighter’s attitude throughout his illness and showed more concern for his wife and children than for himself. Despite the pain, Travis came out a hero and stayed strong until the end.
A funeral service for Travis will be held Tuesday, November 24, 2020 from 12:00 PM to 1:00 PM at Willow Hole Chapel, 12912 FM 1372, North Zulch, TX 77872.
Travis married his love Carolyn Harris on October 22, 1989, spending 31 amazing years together. Their incredible journey included building a successful business, spending time with family, enjoying each other’s company and traveling the country in their RV.
Even though Travis is gone, he lived an extraordinary life surrounded by people who adored him.
Travis loved music. Especially the song “My Way.” These two verses so eloquently sum up his spirit.
Yes, there were times, I'm sure you knew/
When I bit off more than I could chew/
But through it all, when there was doubt/
I ate it up and spit it out/
I faced it all and I stood tall/
And did it my way
I've loved, laughed and cried/
I've had my fill, my share of losing/
And now, as tears subside/
I find it all so amusing/
To think I did all that/
And may I say, not in a shy way/
Oh no, no, not me/
I did it my way
People find themselves measuring most things they do with the larger-than-life shadow he cast. That’s how we came to understand and respect him. We were amazed by him.
We learned the value of organization and thoughtful planning from his successes.
We learned self control and patience from his ability to face challenges head on.
We learned from the joy he took in his grandchildren and great grandchildren. The version of him that came to life around kids was one of the best.
We especially learned that love lives in hard work and loyalty: his drive for success, molding of companies with back-breaking work and creating of families from all of his employees.
We learned from his work ethic. Up to the very end he was concocting new business ideas.
In the last chapter of his life, his edges had worn down a bit. He was more comfortable expressing affection. And even more generous in his support and encouragement of others.
His actions inspired us to DREAM more, LEARN more, DO more and BECOME more..he was a Husband, a Father, a Grandfather, a Great Grandfather, an Uncle, a Friend, a Boss.....a Leader.
He is survived by his Sons Wayne & wife Kim, Mark & wife Holly, Bobby & wife Amber, Thomas & wife Amy; close family friend Margil Cantu & wife Tammy; special Nieces Cheryl Burnes and Charlotte Girard; 11 Grandchildren and 23 Great Grandchildren; Brother Ray and Sister Janet; and extraordinary dog Cody.
Preceded in death by Dad Walter & Mom Ovalee; Brothers Raymond & Pete , Sisters Rosalee & Joyce.
