Carl Thomas (Tommy) Hoover, 89 went to be with his Lord Thursday, August 14th, 2025, at Hospice House of Davidson County. He was born on December 13th, 1935, in Randolph County to the late John David Hoover and Sally Belle Younts, and stepmother, Mildred E Hoover.
Tommy will be remembered as a caring husband, father, grandfather and great grandfather. One of nine siblings, he was a lifelong resident of Davidson County where he married the love of his life, Lois G Hoover on May 26, 1956. They were married 69 years. Tommy retired from Thomasville Furniture Ind. after 40 years. He was a member of Liberty Baptist Church, the Coy Grubb Sunday School class and the Brotherhood Missions team, building ramps and he helped build 2 churches. Tommy is survived by his wife Lois Hoover and daughter Janice Vaughan (Dennis) and a son Lowell T Hoover (Wendy) of Thomasville, NC.
Grandchildren Miranda Young, Megan H Echerd (Jr), Zoe Hoover, Rylee Turbeville (Logan). Great grandchildren Harleigh Rose Hoover, Isabelle, Gabriella, Madelynn, Bo Echerd, Bearett and Lainey Turbeville.
Also surviving are two sisters, Patsy Childers and Peggy Kindley, one brother, Johnny Hoover (Becky), and sister-in-law Diane Hoover and many nieces and nephews.
He was preceded in death by sister Shirley H Hunt, brothers David Jr, Bobby, Eugene, and Harvey. Also, a son in law Randy Young and one great grandson, Colten Turbeville.
Tommy loved watching baseball and NASCAR and working in his yard and gardening.
He loved baseball and played for the High Toms and the Asheboro Copperheads, and the Liberty Baptist Church team. He went to Atlanta to try out for the Atlanta Braves with his brother in 1954 and played one game.
Funeral will be Sunday. August 17th at 2:00 PM at Liberty Baptist Church with officiating by Reverend David Bowman. The family will receive visitors following the service in the fellowship hall.
