

A resident of this area most of his life, David was born on June 14, 1942 in Danville, VA to the late Sampson Kenton and Mattie Chattin Blankenship. On April 24, 1958, he married Elaine Lohr, with whom he shared over 56 wonderful years by her side. He had worked as a land surveyor for many years in the area. David especially enjoyed flying, having received his pilot’s license, was an excellent rifleman, and enjoyed racing motorcycles in his earlier years.
Surviving is his wife, Elaine Lohr Blankenship of the home; three daughters, Jeanette Boles and her husband Lee of Thomasville, Renee Blankenship and significant other, Wayne Williamson of Thomasville, and Debbie Todd and her husband Jarrett of Sophia; son, David Wayne Blankenship and his wife Patsy of Thomasville; six grandchildren, Joshua, Samuel, Heather, Chad, Harrison, and Jacob; and five great grandchildren.
A celebration of David’s life will be held at 2 pm Tuesday in the chapel of Thomasville Funeral Home, 18 Randolph Street, with Rev. Jeremy Linville officiating. Entombment will follow in the Floral Garden Memorial Park Mausoleum. The family will receive friends from 6 until 8 pm Monday at the funeral home.
