Fannie Hughes Thompson

She was born November 11, 1914 in Patrick County, VA to the late George W. and Allie Hughes.

She was a homemaker and a faithful member of Mt. Zion Wesleyan Church and Faithful Workers Sunday School class. She served as a volunteer for the church nursery for more than 30 years. She faithfully and generously gave of her love and time to others.

She was preceded in death by husband, W.T. Thompson of 64 years; brothers, Willie Hughes, George Hughes; sisters, Ruth Rumbley, Pearl Kithcart, Clemmence Holder and Thelma Simpson; granddaughter, Sherry Rutherford.

Survived by daughters Jane Dockery and husband David of Denton, Wanda Leonard of Lexington, Linda Thornburg and husband Joel of Thomasville; sons, Willard Thompson and wife Lorene of Ramseur, Earl Thompson of Thomasville, Roger Thompson and wife Brenda of Jacksonville, FL; 13 grandchildren; 23 great grandchildren; 14 great great grandchildren; sisters, Estelle Pierman, Geraldine Shelton and husband Ernest of Greensboro; several nieces and nephews.

The family will receive friends Saturday, March 10, 2012 from 6:00 – 8:00 pm at Thomasville Funeral Home. A Funeral Service will be held at 2:00 pm Sunday, March 11th at Mt. Zion Wesleyan Church with Pastors Keith Carroll, Carroll Upton and Wilson Harris officiating; interment will follow at the church cemetery.
