After surviving years of illnesses, Floyd Miller passed on from this life to be with his Lord on May 4, 2012. He died peacefully at the VA Hospital in Salisbury, NC. He served in the United States Navy for 4 years and spent 40 years in the ministry. He retired from Holly Hill Wesleyan in 1989. He was a member of Archdale Wesleyan Church in Archdale, NC.
Reverend Miller was born in 1924 in Kentucky and was the son of Mr. and Mrs. Peter Miller and had 8 siblings.
He started pasturing churches in NC East District of the Wesleyan Church in 1956. While pasturing he participated in the Chaplency Program of the Prison Camp in Asheboro, NC and was also active in the Hospital Chaplency program in each of the areas where he and Marie lived.
Though his professional accomplishments were many, his personal accomplishments were his greatest devotion in his life, including his marriage to Marie and his devotion to his children, Steve and Christy.
Reverend Miller is survived by his wife, Marie Slone Miller, son, Steve and his wife Martha of Knoxville, TN, daughter, Christy and her husband Paul Ellison of Thomasville, NC, sister and her husband, Jim and Allene Hutchen of Thomasville, five grandchildren and eleven great-grand children.
The family will receive friends Saturday, May 5, 2012 from 6:00 – 8:00 pm at Thomasville Funeral Home. A 1:00 pm Chapel Service will be held Sunday, May 6th at Thomasville Funeral Home with Reverend Ron Jones and Reverend Carroll Upton officiating; interment will follow with full Military Honors at Holly Hill Memorial Park.
