J. B. Swaney, 85, passed away Friday, September 25, 2020 at Randolph Hospice House following several years of declining health.
J. B. was born in Randolph County, July 9, 1935, a son of the late Reuben Curtis Swaney and Minnie Summey Swaney. He retired from Caraway Furniture after many years of service and attended Christian Fellowship Church. J. B. loved blue grass gospel music and played with the Jordan River Boys and as well as other blue grass groups. He was preceded in death by three sons, Jerry, Rayford and Ricky Swaney and ten siblings.
Surviving are his wife of 65 years, Betty Hulin Swaney; a son, Wayne Swaney and his wife Linda; sister, Edith Small; a brother, Troy Swaney; grandson, Shannon Crotts and a great-grandson, Jake Crotts; numerous nieces and nephews.
A Celebration of J. B.'s life will be held Monday at 2 p.m. in the Thomasville Funeral Home Chapel by Pastor David Hunt and Pastor Claudie Harrison. Burial will follow in Pierce's Chapel Primitive Baptist Church Cemetery. The family will receive friends at the funeral home Monday from 1 until 2 p.m. The family would like to thank the wonderful staff of Hospice for their loving care of J.B.
