

Mrs. Betty Palmer, 94, formerly of Thomasville, North Carolina, died on January 7, 2014 at Park Springs, an assisted living facility in Stone Mountain, Georgia where she was a resident for the past six years.
She was born November 5, 1919 in Lenoir, North Carolina, daughter of Junius Edgar Shell and Winifred Henry Shell. She was the wife of the late R. Glenn Palmer who died April 21, 1995. Betty and Glenn were married September 11, 1939 and lived together in western North Carolina before relocating to Thomasville in 1972. She was a homemaker and an active member of Memorial United Methodist Church where she sang in the church choir for many years. Her favorite pastimes included music, sewing, knitting, playing bridge and spending time with her family at the beach.
She is survived by her two children, Janet Palmer Kennedy of Atlanta, Georgia, and Robert G. Palmer, Jr., of Brevard, North Carolina; five grandchildren, Marjorie Kennedy, Rebecca Seay, Sarah Kennedy, Martha Palmer, Glenn Palmer and three great-grandchildren, Elizabeth Seay, Katie Seay and William Betsinger.
Funeral service will be held at 11 am Saturday, January 11, 2014 in the chapel of Thomasville Funeral Home, 18 Randolph Street, with the Reverend Dr. Ivan Peden and Reverend Peggy A. Finch, of Memorial United Methodist Church, officiating. Interment will follow in Holly Hill Memorial Park Cemetery. The family will receive friends one hour prior to the service at the funeral home.
