She was born July 23, 1924 in Guilford County, NC to the late Charles Boyd and Annie Jane Hogan Shives.
Katie was preceded in death by her husband, James Markham; daughter, Laura Markham Sprye; brother, Charles Q. Shives; sisters, Mildred Deal and Lillie Mae Margaret Shives.
She is survived by daughters, Nancy Joyce and husband Coy; brother, Reverend Harold Shives and wife Martha; sister, Loretta Yates; sister-in-law, Alice Shives; grandchildren, Kim Jones, Dean Joyce and great grandson, Trevor Jones.
A visitation will be held from 1:00 – 3:00pm Friday, January 4, 2013 at Thomasville Funeral Home followed with a chapel service at 3pm. Entombment will follow at Floral Garden Memorial Park.
