Larry was born October 30th, 1947 in Rising Sun, Wisconsin to Victor and Mary (Wood) Leahy, just 30 minutes after his twin brother Gerald. The tenth of twelve children, Larry learned early the lessons of sacrifice, hard work, and love of family that he would instill in his own children. On April 20th, 1968, he married Margaret Ann Henry in Janesville, WI. They raised three daughters, Lisa, Brenda, and Angela and two sons, Timothy and Shaun.
A self-described “Jack of All Trades, Master of None”, Larry spent his life wearing many hats. He served briefly in the US Navy alongside his twin; worked in factories; raised tobacco; worked as a carpenter; and small business owner, always doing whatever he needed to in order to provide for his family. He enjoyed woodworking, working in his yard and spending time with his family.
Larry was preceded in death by his father, Victor; his mother, Mary; siblings, Eddie, Francis Anita, Joe, Julaine; and two grandchildren, Alexandrea and Chelsea.
He is survived by his wife Peg; his five children, Lisa, Brenda, Angie, Tim and Shaun; twelve grandchildren, Jasmine, Britt, Victoria, Jessica, Allyssa, Dylan, Cameron, Arian, Brianna, Sierra, Brenna, Katherine, Hailey, and Nicolas; seven great-grandchildren Avery, Skyler, Savannah, Waylon, Fenn, Kinsley, Hunter, and Keilana; as well as the rest of his siblings, Patty, Jack, Therese, Robert, Gerald, Madonna, Peggy and many other members of his large extended family.
A funeral service will be held at Our Lady of the Highway in Thomasville, NC, Thursday, September 19th, 2019 at 11am with an interment to follow at Holly Hill Cemetery.
