THOMASVILLE – Margaret Lee Leonard Moody, age 97, resident of Pelican Health Thomasville and formerly Liberty Drive, passed away on Monday, January 3, 2022. She was born in Davidson County, NC, on March 6, 1924, to Ira Eugene Leonard and Mabel Clara Hayworth Leonard.
She retired from Alma Desk in High Point in 1989 and was a member of Carolina Memorial Baptist Church, where she served as a Sunday school teacher for young girls for many years.
She was a devoted daughter, sister, wife, mother, grandmother, and great-grandmother who loved spending time with her family. Her grandchildren affectionately called her "Grandma Shorty," a nickname given by her grandson, Brent, once he was taller than she was. She especially enjoyed gardening, canning, baking, and cooking Sunday lunch for her ever-growing family.
In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her husband, Otho Herbert Moody; sons, Ronald Eugene Moody, Donnell Otho Moody; son-in-law, Jim Cox; great great granddaughter, Taylor Grace Jones; siblings, Emory Leonard, Edna Berrier, Grover Leonard, Winfria Hilton, Lester Leonard, Ethel Gammons, and Dorothy Harrison. Margaret is survived by daughter, Rita Cox; daughter-in-law, Mary Ann Moody; grandchildren, Christy Jones and husband Greg, Brent Moody and wife Joni. She was blessed with five great grandchildren: Bryant Jones, Jennifer Mercado, Brandon Jones, Gary Kight, and Davis Moody. She was also blessed with six great great grandchildren: Kaidence Jones, Melody Jones, Jake Reed, Brilee Jones, Emilia Mercado, and Emmett Jones.
A private service will be held at Holly Hill Memorial Park Cemetery.
