THOMASVILLE – Mayre Theresa Pedersen Kassakatis, age 66, died on August 29, 2021. She was born in Clarksville, TN, on December 18, 1954, to Francis Dale Pedersen and Gwendolyn Deaton Pedersen.

As a young girl Terri lived in Clarksville, TN; her family moved to Atchinson, KS, Glenview, IL, before settling in Deerfield, IL. Terri graduated Deerfield High School and attended University of Wisconsin at Whitewater, where she earned her Associates Degree. In 1973 Terri married Robert James Perdue Jr. and moved to Germany where her family grew with the addition of Robert James III and Daniel Scott. In 1988, Terri married her soul mate, Steven Albert Kassakatis, and continued to grow her family with Kevin Michael, Timothy Albert and Mayre Noelle. Terri’s family lived in Salem, VA, for 8 years before finally settling in Thomasville, NC, in 2004.

Terri had a deep passion and love for our Lord Jesus Christ, which is evident in how she lived and who she touched throughout her life. Terri loved to give and help in any way she could, be it a unique gift, making food or sending chickens to needy families in Africa, or just sitting and listening to comfort someone. Terri carefully thought about a person and either found or made an appropriate gift, from handmade blankets, earrings, Christmas ornaments or gnomes, to memory books with letters and pictures from friends. Terri’s main goal was to give of herself to make others happy and give them what they needed… physically, mentally, emotionally, or spiritually. Most recently Terri was helping to build a women’s group at Life Point Church in Lexington, NC, devoted to showing women Gods love for them and sharing that with as many people as possible.

Terri’s greatest treasure though was her family. Terri raised and cared for her children, she fed, guided, counseled, taught, and enforced values that would prepare them for the world and in faith. She rejoiced in her children’s accomplishments and encouraged them when things didn’t go so well. Terri loved her husband every day of her 33-year marriage. Since their retirement they had begun traveling the country, spending time seeing family and exploring Gods wonder.

Terri’s other hobbies and interests included Photo Collector, Bird Lover, Lighthouse Enthusiast, Christmas Décor Addict, Flower Aficionado, Knick-knack Collector

Terri is survived by her loving husband, Steven Albert Kassakatis, her brother Rick Pedersen and his wife Joyce, her sons Robert Perdue III and his wife Ashley, Daniel Perdue and his wife Cathy, Kevin Kassakatis and his wife Victoria, Timothy Kassakatis and his wife Kayla, and her most favorite daughter Mayre Noelle Kassakatis along with her grandchildren: Katelyn, Robert, Riley, Colin, Kylie, Liam, Lila, Collin, Adalyn, Oliver and Charlotte. She was preceded in death by her father Francis Dale Pedersen and mother Gwendolyn Frances Pedersen.
