
Paul Dwight Hopkins, 72, passed away unexpectedly Thursday, June 22, 2016 at his beach home in Calabash.
Dwight was born in Salisbury, April 19, 1944, a son of the late Rev. Dr. Paul James Hopkins and Estelle Waller Hopkins. He worked at Thomas Bus for many years and retired from Brass Craft. Dwight loved the beach and riding his Harley trike, which he built. He was preceded in death by a brother and sister in law, Jerry and Salonge Hopkins.
Surviving are his wife of 46 years, Bobbie Rierson Hopkins; two daughters, Gena Hopkins Price and husband Buster and Paula Hopkins Carter and husband Kevin; two sons, Michael Hunt and wife Crystal and Jonathan Hunt and wife Dora; a sister, Vicki Mathis and husband Charles; two brothers, Dennis Hopkins and wife Suzanne and Eric Hopkins; eight grandchildren and eight great-grandchildren and his good friends at Terry House Barbecue.
A Celebration of Dwight’s Life will be held Sunday from 2-4 p.m. at Christian Life Freewill Baptist Church, 799 Old Hwy 29, Thomasville. The family will receive friends at other times at the home of Marsha Hunt, Denton Rd. Memorials may be directed to the charity of the donor’s choice. Online condolences may be made at ThomasvilleFH.
