

He was born February 1, 1933 in Bayside, NY to the late Harold and Beatrice Ivy Casby Schirrman.
Ron was a Vietnam Veteran. He served twenty-two years with distinction as a Green Beret/Seventh Special Forces in Vietnam and Korea. He was wounded, and received numerous medals and commendations for his dedication and bravery, including three Purple Hearts and 2 Bronze Stars.
The discipline and patriotism he learned in the Army never left him, as friends and family will attest. He is a legend and a hero who has earned the respect of his country and those who knew him.
Ron settled in North Carolina after retiring from the US Army where he served for 22 years. He spent the last 18 years of his service in the Special Forces, retiring from the 7th Special Forces Group at Fort Bragg, NC.
Upon retiring from the Army, Ron opened The Bulls Eye Gun Shop in Fayetteville where he operated a successful business for 15 years before relocating to Thomasville, NC.
Ron was preceded in death by his beloved wife of 49 years, Carol Schirrman.
Mr. Schirrman is survived by one sister, Audrey Chiofalo; two children, Kim Scarboro and husband Ed, Karrin Dalton and ex-husband Bob. He also leaves behind two grandchildren, Brent Scarboro, Amanda Dalton, and one great grandchild, Logan Scarboro.
There will be a Graveside Service Thursday, April 5, 2012 at 1:00 pm in Salisbury National Cemetery in Salisbury, NC with Pastor Rickey Payne officiating. Thomasville Funeral Home is assisting the family.
