

Ruby was born on March 29, 1929 in Bridgeport, AL to the late James and Tennessee Dawson Middleton. She was a charter member of Colonial Baptist Church in Trinity, where she was a past children’s Sunday school teacher, choir member, and Girl’s in Action teacher. She was especially famous at Colonial for her delectable brownies and always had a Bible verse for everything. Ruby was a kind, giving person who was always encouraging and putting others first. She enjoyed camping and most of all spending time with her family. In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her siblings, Conage Middleton, D.C. Middleton, Jack Middleton, Bob Middleton, Gussie Vinson, and son-in-law, Rick Embler.
Surviving are her husband of over 64 years, Billy King of the home; daughter, Carolyn Embler of Thomasville; son, Billy “Eddie” King, Jr. and his wife Nyoka “Nokie” of Lexington; grandchildren, Eric King and his wife Amber of Thomasville and Heather King of Lexington; and soon-to-be great-granddaughter, Scarlett Grace King. Also surviving are four sisters, Ann Peoples, Shirley Campbell, Jimmie Cooper, and Barbara Knight; brother, J.B. Middleton; and numerous nieces and nephews.
Funeral service will be 2 pm Sunday, February 22nd at Colonial Baptist Church, 6792 Welborn Road, Trinity, with Pastor Steve Jarvis officiating. Interment will follow in Holly Hill Memorial Park Cemetery. The family will receive friends from 6:30 until 8:30 pm Saturday, February 21st at Thomasville Funeral Home, 18 Randolph Street.
