Ruth Norton Gordon

Mrs. Ruth Norton Gordon, 83, passed away Sunday, June 24, 2018 at the Hinkle Hospice House.

Ruth was born in Bladenboro, June 16, 1935, a daughter of the late Archie and Annie McGee Norton. She was of the Pentecostal faith and loved going to church and reading her Bible. Ruth enjoyed spending time with her family, gospel music, flowers and fishing. She was preceded in death by her husband, J. B. Nance; a son, David Nance; two sisters, Pearl Carver and Esther Justice and two brothers, Albert Norton and Luke Norton.

Surviving are her children, Linnie Plowman and husband Don of Thomasville; James Nance and wife Wanda of Thomasville, Ray Nance of Trinity and Joey Nance of Thomasville; grandchildren, Thad, Craig, Timothy, Tanner, Bethany, Shannon, Kelly, Justin, Tyler, Jason, Peaches and David; twenty five great-grandchildren and one great-great-grandson; a brother, Cornelius “Bo” Norton and wife Bonnie.

A Celebration of Ruth’s life will be held Wednesday at 2 p.m. in the Thomasville Funeral Home Chapel by the Rev. Daniel Sneed. Burial will follow in Holly Hill Memorial Park Cemetery. The family will receive friends at the funeral home Wednesday from 12 noon until the service. Memorials may be directed to Hospice of Davidson County.
