It is with deep sadness that Arthur's family announces his passing on July 11, 2010, at North York General Hospital at the age of 94.
Above all, Art was a family man. He was the beloved husband of the late Martha Wilkins (nee Herz) for 60 years; cherished father of Donna Nabel, Arthur W. Wilkins (Deborah Van Londen), Linda Siddall (Robert), and Wendy Northway (Ed Marks); adored grandfather of Deanna, Derek (Hsiao-wen), Heidi (Horst), Jason (Dan), Anna Linda (Nick), Alex, Melissa, and Adam; and loving brother to Margaret Steller. He was devoted to his special friend Peggy Chambers.
Family came first, but Art also enjoyed several hobbies, particularly fishing and gardening. His lifetime career in the brewing industry began in Waterloo, where he grew up. Moving through various positions in human resources and labor relations in Waterloo and later Toronto, he completed his career as secretary of his company.
A memorial service will be held on Saturday, July 17, 2010, at 11 a.m. at The Church of Saint Luke - Lutheran, 3200 Bayview Avenue at Finch. In lieu of flowers, friends may donate to the Canadian Cancer Society.
