Passed away peacefully on Thursday, March 15, at Southlake Hospital in her 89th year. Loving wife of the late Severino, devoted mother to Angela (late Bob), Eufemia (Terry), and Salvatore (Melody). Amazing grandmother to Nicole (Jack), Joseph (Angela), Paula (Logan), Nicole (Max), and Madison (Tom). Loving proud great grandmother to Daniel, William, Sarah, Noah, Miles, and soon to arrive, baby Henry. Survived by her brothers Antonio and Nicola and deeply loved by many; sisters-in-laws, brother-in-law, nieces, nephews, cousins, friends and the caring people at Cedarvale Lodge. Assunta touched the lives of so many. Family was central to her life and friends were precious. No matter whom she met, they became a friend. Famous for her delicious cooking, she could make a feast from an empty fridge. She leaves behind a legacy of kindness and love. You are with the angels now, let us rejoice. Visitation will be held at the R.S. Kane Funeral Home, 6150 Yonge St. (at Goulding, south of Steeles) on Tuesday, March 20 from 4-9 pm. Funeral Mass will be held on Wednesday, March 21, at 11:30 am at Holy Cross Funeral Home, 211 Langstaff Road East, Thornhill. Interment Holy Cross Cemetery with reception to follow. In lieu of flowers memorial donations may be made to the Southlake Regional Health Centre Foundation, Heart and Stroke Foundation or a charity of your choice.
