Audrey Jean (Pagendam) Dempsey

Mother to son, David William Dempsey (Pam) and daughter, Susanne Mary Dempsey (Ted). Audrey was so very proud of her children.

Audrey was the daughter of Bill and Jean Pagendam. Audrey was the big sister of Les Pagendam and little sister of Gord Pagendam. Gord was Mom’s best friend and he also introduced Mom to her late beloved fiancée, Tom Widman.

Audrey was grandmother to Lauren, Sarah, Aibhne, Marrison and Rin. Audrey appreciated her great sons-in-law, Lance, Rob, Michael and Ken.

Audrey was great-grandmother (G.G.) to Sage, Lawrie, Ella and Henry. She loved her grands and greats very much and spoke so highly of them to anyone who would listen.

Audrey had a beautiful singing voice and wholeheartedly participated in many productions of the Yorkminstrels who regularly produced Rodgers & Hammerstein and Gilbert & Sullivan shows as well as singing in her own church choirs.

Audrey’s love of animals was well known, but none more than her German Shepherd, Leibling. One of Mom’s favourite memories shared with David was when they helped deliver Leibling’s 7 puppies. David was only 10 years old. One of those puppies served honourably with the Bowmanville Police Force many decades ago.

Mom loved colours. Perhaps when you see or wear bright pinks, purples or yellows, you’ll think of her.

Our Mom, Audrey, was a joy to those who were lonely or in need of comfort. Along with her quirky sense of humour, Audrey was filled with compassion and understanding for her fellow human beings as her very strong faith guided her. She will be missed.

Visitation for Audrey will be held at Kane-Jerrett Funeral Homes - Thornhill (8088 Yonge St,) on Saturday, June 28, 2025 at 1:00pm. A Memorial Service will begin at 2:00pm. Following the service a reception will take place.
