Unexpectedly, on Wednesday, November 24, 2010 at the age of 59, Bernard passed away at his home. Born in Montreuil-Sur-Mer, France, he arrived in Toronto via Louisiana 34 years ago to teach French. Bernard is survived by his loving wife of 37 years Linda, his daughters Christine and Natalie (Michael Kohnle) and his brother, Bruno. Bernard conveyed his unending enthusiasm of the French culture by organizing trips to France and Quebec, sharing fine cuisine, and had a strong preference for French wine.
The family will receive friends, colleagues and students on Friday, December 3, 2010 from 2-4 and 6-8 pm at the R.S. Kane Funeral Home (6150 Yonge Street, at Goulding, south of Steeles). A Funeral Mass will be held on Saturday, December 4, 2010 at 11:00 a.m. at Sacré-Coeur Catholic Church (381 Sherbourne Street). Interment will take place at Mount Hope Cemetery. As an expression of sympathy, donations may be made to the Heart and Stroke Foundation.
