When I read of the passing of Burke Seitz, a series of emotions overcame me. Sadness, of course at the passing of a fine gentleman but also many happy memories. My father, Jimmy Ross, ran the tire store across the street from Gorries. At 16 I left school to work with my Dad. The 50's and 60's were the Golden Age in the car business. I got to know Burke, his father Ernie and the whole Gorries family. We had a wonderful relationship as both friends and business associates. Burke and his wife attended my wedding in 1960 and that summer when we were taking our vacation, Burke generously gave us the use of a new Corvette. What a thrill for a young couple!
I don't think Green & Ross would have survived without the support from every department in Gorries. When we were building a new shop, Burke invited us to operate out of the dealership until we could move into our new place. Not often does one hear of that kind of generosity. I have told the story to my children, grandchildren and friends over the years.

May Burke rest in peace. I will never forget him. My deepest condolences to his family.

To the Seitz Family.
I was so sad to hear of Burke's passing. He was a class act who lived a wonderful life. He will be remembered by all. I have many memories of Burke to treasure.

A.D. Gorrie Chev, Olds, Corvette! 28 Gerrard Street East. Employee from 1954 -1961, Parts & Service Dept. at age 15 I was a car guy from birth. "This is where I want to be" said I. Gorrie's run  by Burke; Friday nights at the CNE stock car races; Noon go cart racing on the 2nd floor. (Burke was okay with that); Gorrie's Rods & Guns Club; the National Leasing and Used Car Depts; Gorrie's hockey league games at Varsity Arena Sunday nights, supported by GM Oshawa; the opening of Golden Mile Motors.

In 1961 Burke and I had a long talk. He tried to convince me to stay with him at Gorrie's. I was young and decided to move on to Addison on Bay where I worked for 45 years until 2007.

His father Ernest and London Ontario born Gene Lockhart wrote the famous "The World is Waiting for the Sunrise." The sun has set on a great Canadian. Memories are made of this.

I was so sorry to hear of Burke's passing.
I have so many happy memories of summers on Lake Simcoe next to the Seitz family.

 My father Mike loved Burke and considered him to be one of his oldest and very dearest friends, even though they hadn't seen each other for many years when he died in 2008. I am very grateful for my friendship with Burke as well and will treasure the brief times I spent with him and the many wonderful stories he had to share about my dad and their adventures together when they were younger and wilder. My deepest condolences to his beloved family. He spoke so lovingly of all of you and I know how much he will be greatly missed.
