Served September 1942 – March 1946 in Canada, England & Europe
Dear father of Karen (Bill McIntosh), Joanne, Maryjean (Don Stewart) and Robert (Gail Yee). Grandfather of Shannon, Colleen and Paul Higgins; Alison and Quentin Zimmerman; Katherine Poole (Jody), Jean Van de Mark and Olivia Seitz. Great-Grandfather of Charlotte and Beatrice.
Predeceased by his parents Ernest and Claire Seitz, brother Robert, sister Mary Claire Roche, son William, daughter Barbara, step daughter Mimi McEvenue (Geoff Love), wife Mary and former wife Jean.
Lovingly remembered by Mary’s children Sheilagh, George (Debbie), Meg (Greg), and Kelly along with their children and grandchildren.
Burke had a long and illustrious career in the car business as Owner and President of Gorrie’s Downtown Chevrolet- Oldsmobile, Golden Mile Motors, Scarborough Datsun and Bristol Auto Rentals. He was an accomplished sportsman in race car driving, tennis, sailing and golf. He also loved his recreational flying.
Burke retired quite young and spent many long and happy winters at Atlantis Golf Club in Florida, a spot for holiday gatherings with the Seitz andMcEvenue families.
The family would like to express appreciation to the staff at North York General Hospital & the Palliative Care Unit at Saint Michael’s Hospital for their care & support.
A Mass of Christian Burial will be held at 10:30 am on Tuesday, December 13, 2016 at St. Bonaventure’s Church, 1300 Leslie St., Toronto. No visitation. Private interment at a later date.
