I remember Megan and Nono dancing the polka together at weddings.  He loved to dance and had a wonderful sense of humor.  All his grandchildren loved him and he was the patriarch of the family.  He will be dearly missed by all.  He is now at peace with his family in spirit.  I know he is dancing  and supporting us all from above.

A Two Part Tribute to Nonno
Part 1

In loving memory of my nonno (& Christian and Luca's bis-nonno) who passed away Wednesday at the age of 90.

I will always remember his laugh- which I can almost hear looking through his pictures. He was really such a happy guy. Even when nonna was super mad and going on about something there he would be laughing away beside her. :) 

Today I was thinking a lot about memories I have of my nonno. He had a quiet authority about him. When we were younger, he took us to the park everyday when he took care of us. And by us I mean the pile of cousins that would go there everyday before we were all in grade 1. There were never any battles or tears leaving the park. After a while of us playing he would simply get up and start walking home. He wouldn't say a word. Just got up and started to stroll home. And somehow we just all... followed. LOL We all are still around today... so I'd say his method back then was quite successful! Ah- a simpler time. Somehow his quiet nature would still attract him a lot of attention. As you can see- he pretty much stole the show at my wedding. The photographer took like 50 pictures of him just strolling around like a mafioso boss in the courtyard after the ceremony LOL. A very cool guy... without even trying. If only we had some pix and videos of nonno 20 years ago hitting up the dance floor with nonna to each and every italian song that would play at the 8 bazillon weddings we'd go to together. That man knew how to have a good time.

Nonno loved babies and was highly engaged with all of his grandkids (and loved holding his great-grandbabies too- though much more difficult once he lost the use of one of his arms).
Must be where my dad and I get it. We are the baby hogs and mom says nonno was the same way.

To think he came here literally by boat all the way from Sicily, and the beautiful family he built here as a result, with nothing but his trunk of things, is so amazing. 7 kids, 14 grandkids and 2great-grandkids later...

There weren't toys at nonno's house yet I always always looked forward to going. I may have faked sick a few times in elementary school so I could just go hang out there for the day. ;) We would play with all his records under the dining room table, make forts out of the cushions from the couch (of course not of the couch with the plastic on it.. that couch was not for using... only for looking at), watch way too much tv while eating way too much pasta, and play on nonno's recliner which we flipped backwards more than once. Despite being all traumatized by the fact that he lost his 2 fingers because "the neighbours dog bit them off so don't touch the fence or else it'll happen to you!" (fact checked when older to discover this was not true- it happened in a work accident), nothing was better than sitting out his backyard and waving to the train and watching him wander around his garden at the back or eat his wine grapes.

Rest in peace nonno. Now you can enjoy all the wine you want again :) I raise a glass to you tonight.

Dear D'Angelo Family,
 What stands out to me about Carlo is that although he never seemed to be a man of many words, he spoke thousands with his smile.  He was kind, genuine and always had that smile, not to big, not to small, just enough to convey that all was right with him.  It takes a strong, strong person to see all he had seen in life and still curl up a smile.
He raised a good family, I never met a D'Angelo I didn't like or have fun with, for that matter. I dearly love my sister-in-law, Mima, and my beautiful nephew and niece, Bernie and Victoria, and I thank Carlo for doing such a good job raising them. 
Our deepest condolences to all your big, beautiful family.  Wishing you strength and comfort to deal with this great loss.
And I hope the angels have prepared a nice plate of pasta and a tall glass of vino for Carlo in heaven. Rest in Peace

My Nonno was loved by his family and loved us back deeply. We miss him so much. I will always remember his smiles. I love you Nonno xoxoxo
