

Peacefully at MacKenzie Health Centre on January 25, 2019 at the age of 88 surrounded by her family. Cherished wife of the late Harry. Devoted mother of Peggy( Don), Mary( Brian) and David( Karen). Loving sister of Theresa Pitt. Carole was the proud grandmother of seven grandchildren: Jennifer, Diana Lemdal(Stefan), Christine Pilkington-Cook( Michael), Karen Allentoff( Michael), Anne-Marie Pilkington(Dan), Meaghan and William, and three great-grandchildren Nathalie, Ryan and Nathan. Predeceased by her parents Mildred and Ralph Gomoll, and her sisters-in-law Adele and Bertie.
Carole graduated from The Atkinson School of Nursing Toronto Western Hospital Nursing in 1953 and Queens University, RN, BNSc. in 1954 and worked for RNAO and VON. Carole and Harry were active members at Asbury and West, Willowdale and Thornhill United Churches. Carole loved music and participated in church choirs from her teens until retirement. A heartfelt thanks to the Mackenzie Heath Centre teams for their exceptional care and compassion.
Visitation will be held at the R.S. Kane Funeral Home, 6150 Yonge St. (at Goulding, south of Steeles) on Friday February 15, 2019 from 10am until 11am with the Celebration of Life at 11am. Interment to follow.
In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to Queens University or Thornhill United Church. Memorial contributions may be made through Queen’s University to The Nursing 75th Anniversary Bursary Fund in memory of Carole Jean Carruthers (nee Gomoll) at https://www.givetoqueens.ca/carolecarruthers.
