 I talk to you every day in my heart ,but I thought I’d write  here to you for some reason tonight.
I miss you with all my heart
I need you more than anything, but I know that’s not possible. 
It’s been too long, the years keep going by, but I can still hear your voice. I feel your arms around me hugging me. 
Life isn’t  fair and I can’t wait to see you again. 
Not a day Goes by that I don’t think of you. I thought it would get easier  but it doesn’t.

It began with Stepping out, then Glen Shields N.S, working together, on the
board at G.S, evenings out with the girls,your house for pot luck, great times together. You will be missed by all. I am proud to call you Friend.

You weren't family, you weren't a friend, you were both and more. You calmed me down in times of need - like the time I got my hair twisted endlessly in the spinny brush; only you I would allow to pull out each tooth individually as opposed to shaving my head! You made me laugh in so many ways - you always knew just what to say to make a situation better. I know that I will hear your voice forever more in my head, giving me advice or making me smile. And I will always think of you whenever I taste those sweet sweet "Monkey Balls" - you made them best. 

Thanks for the love and memories, you will live on in our hearts and minds until we meet you when our time too has come.

My memories of the 25 years we worked together at Glen Shields Nursery School are endless. We had so many good times and lots of laughs with the kids. We were both such kids at heart, I think thats why we loved our job so much. A part of you will will always be at our school, as to this day our room is just the way we left it when you and I closed it 3 years ago. Missing you and our school. Your friend and teaching partner.

A guiding force, Gert; you have to be proud.
You were gentle and fair and wise all around.
All this we know; for you taught it so well.
Your daughter, Denys, was under your spell.

She grew to a woman, a wife and a mother.
She grew to a teacher and loving grandmother.
She grew to a counsellor, a guider, a friend.
She grew to a person on whom to depend.

A person who fiecely protected those dear,
A person who stood face to face with each fear.
No sufferer of fools; she lived her convictions,
Her honesty...it knew no restrictions.

She recognized strengths, in others and self.
Weakness she battled; encouraged good health.
Always knew herself well and took pride in that fact,
And often helped others to know how to act.

Practical, logical; she knew what made sense.
With no bones about it, advice she's dispense. 
Had her share of losses, as everyone knows,
And struggled sometimes to let those things go.

The voice of reason for many a soul.
A broad wealth of knowledge, she could extol.
A lover of music and paper and books,
And her background, and family's historical 'nook'.
A 'chef' who could taste and make things just right,
Appreciating simple and good in her life.

A sister to brothers, an in-law, an aunt,
A niece and a cousin, a true confidante.
A centre of family; always had them come 'round,
To keep them together, where love could abound.

Acquaintance to many, 
Respected by more,
A friend, such a friend
Couldn't be loved any more.

A mom to a daughter she simply adores,
And a son-in-law who couldn't mean more. 
Sabrina, her 'creature'; Bianca, her 'girl';
These are the ones who've become her whole world.

Because Gert, you taught her
And gave her your best.

Denys had always a smile.  She was a kind and loving person and well respected. She taught my son Lucas for 2 years at Glen Shields Nursery School, calling her "Miss Denys".  
You are also sadly missed at the medical clinic. Your delicious and healthy "scones" were a big hit.

When I see June bugs or hear American Woman I think of Denys and the summer holiday at Woodland Beach (the five cousins set lose with Denys as "guardian") ... who knew this fearless woman was afraid of June bugs!!!  Her laugh was infectious and she had her mom's poker face, a deadly combination on a summer night on a porch.  Amanda and Joe, I am so very sorry for your loss.

Altough we hadn't seen you in years, we thought of you and told old family stories often. Say hello to my Mum and her sisters for me.

Denys I love you always!  I will never forget "apples", missing you "raisins". Thanks for the memories.

Denys was a wonderful person. I met her at Glen Shields Nursery school where she taught my kids Spencer and Sydney. She loved my kids and they loved her.  She will be missed. My condolences to her family.
