I'm very sorry for the loss of Don, and my deepest condolences to all of his family, friends and all whom he touched in life. 

It was very inspiring to see the many branches of the tree that Don and Netty began many years ago, and into what strong, flexible and healthy limbs they have all become. Great strength, love, loss and unbreakable connections were so clearly on display today at the service.

He was a constant of Dunforest Avenue, throughout my life, and I always looked forward to seeing his truck as I cycled by, with his elbow out the window, a big smile on his face, and to be able to share a few words, catch up on his many family and musical goings-on, and have a laugh or three. 

He was exceptionally kind to my ailing parents always, and that was a great comfort to them, and to me, knowing he'd help whenever they might need it. 

No pretense. No BS. Just a really solid, standup guy who lived life well. 

There's a special seat in the band, behind the drums, far upstairs, that's now filled by a fellow with a great big heart, and a smile and laugh to match. If I listen carefully, I think I can hear his deep laugh.

I have many memories in the 6 years that I knew you. Late night campfires, as you usually did not make an appearance until at least 10pm! Time spent on the social committee, your corn roasts, and the occasional talks we had, particularly this past year.  You were definitely an integral part of the park. Rest easy, your legacy will live on in your cherished family.

Dear Diana and Donna, 
I want to take this opportunity to send you both big giant hugs! I was planning of being there to support you today, but I have the baby sick at home from daycare today.

I loved your dad! He was always supportive and super nice to me and anyone involved in the camps or trips we were doing. He always made me feel like a part of the family as we would talk each time we ran into each other as well as with regular invites to the Bash In the Backyard each summer! Thrilling memories! 

I am sorry I could not be there for you today! Sending big hugs to everyone!

Our deepest condolences to Don's family and wide circle of friends.  I knew Don through my late brother, John for many, many years.  He always seemed to have lots going on with family, friends and his community.  His care for those in his life was unmistakable. He will be greatly missed.

We’ll always remember Don’s love of music, especially the Beatles, and his cheery, warm personality. Don’s smile was there for everyone, and his ribfests were the best! A great neighbour, a friend who was always there to lend a hand, he was a man who loved life.

You will be terribly missed, Don. If we listen carefully, we’ll always be able to hear you making the music you loved so much.

We have so many memories of Don.  
Always loved the dances he voluntarily DJ’d at the park.  Those were the best dances ever. 
And then there was Don the cook….oh so many yummy BBQs and pot lucks.  
Don the singer…such a lovely deep voice and he obviously loved it.  Don the musician in Flashback playing drums and guitar…the band really rocked.  
Don the karaoke organizer…giving those folks who love to sing a platform to do it on.
Don the fireworks organizing and displays were amazing.
Don the helper…always one of the first to lend a helping hand.  I particularly remember that bus trying to cross the bridge and getting the rear wheel stuck off the edge.  Don knew exactly how to fix this with  some wood wedges.
 I remember vividly how he also helped move our first RV into position for us when we had some trouble with it.
Don the puppy Dad.  He sure loved those dogs.
Don the friend…so many discussions and laughs around the campfire. 
We will be raising a beer to the memories Don.  RIP ❤️

So sorry to hear of Don's passing and would like to offer my condolences to his family.  My late husband and I belonged to the same camping community as Don for many years, will always remember how he decorated his trailer and campsite with the Beatles !!!! Lots of good memories !!!!

Don had taken care of Tri-Congregational Church at Leslie and Finch since 2015.  In the past 9 years, he served us faithfully and kept our ground nice and clean.  He was a hard worker.  He always did his best to shovel the snow and mow our lawn.  I treasure the moments we chatted over the years.  Your sudden passing gave us no chance to say goodbye to you.  You are greatly missed.  Thank you Don for your dedication in serving others!  May you rest in peace!  May the peace of Christ comfort all your family members!
